FAQs

A Charmat tank is a sealed stainless‑steel pressure vessel used for the secondary fermentation of sparkling wine—also known as the “tank method” or Metodo Charmat. Sugar and yeast are added to the base wine inside the tank, where CO₂ is produced under pressure to carbonate the wine .

These tanks typically operate at pressures up to 6 bar (≈88 psi), and are often designed with PU foam insulation and dimpled cooling jackets to maintain ideal fermentation temperatures

The tank method enables faster production, cost efficiency, and the preservation of fresh, fruity, aromatic profiles—ideal for beverages like Prosecco—without the aging complexity of traditional methods

Yes. Our Charmat tanks are constructed with food‑grade stainless steel (usually AISI 304, with options for 316L), comply with CE PED / ASME pressure equipment standards, and include full material traceability .

Standard tanks include features like CIP (Clean‑In‑Place) systems, spray‑balls, and smooth interior surfaces (e.g. BA or Ra-polished) to ensure easy sanitation and routine maintenance.

Yes, customization is available. You can request specific capacities, insulation types, finishes (marbled, matte, brushed), and additional fittings such as manways, pressure gauges, sample taps, valves, and cooling jackets to match your production requirements .
